Boise State Running Back Ashton Jeanty’s Mind-Blowing Statistics Actually Do Him A Disservice

Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty is having one of the most insane starts to any season in college football history. However, his mind-blowing statistics are actually a poor representation of his performance.

That’s how good he has been so far!!

Jeanty, a true junior, is right in the mix for the Heisman Trophy. Should his historic pace continue, it would be hard not to crown him as the best player in the country. He currently leads college football in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns and yards per carry.

Through four games, Jeanty has 82 carries for 845 yards and 13 touchdowns. That is an average of 20.5 carries, 211.25 yards and 3.25 touchdowns per game.

The Broncos are 3-1 over that span with only a three-point loss on the road at top-10 Oregon. They are in the College Football Playoff conversation as the potential highest-ranked Group of Five (Six?) program and might even sneak in as an at-large bid if they can win out.

If that is going to happen, Ashton Jeanty needs to keep his foot on the gas. He will likely be in New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony if he can stay healthy and, just as importantly, stay dominant.

Here’s where things get even crazier.

Jeanty’s mind-boggling stat line is not a fair representation of just how good he has been. It actually undersells his performance.

Boise State pulled Jeanty at halftime of its 56-14 win over Portland State, so the numbers are through three-and-a-half games… NOT four games! He is technically averaging 23.4 carries, 241.43 yards and 3.71 touchdowns per game.

And to go even one step further, Jeanty got the hook against the Vikings after only 11 carries for 127 yards. (“Only” LOL!) He did not even score a touchdown in that game and was on pace for 254 yards.

That’s just bananas.
