The Baltimore Ravens took a big step toward providing clarity about their future plans on Thursday when they hired new head coach Jesse Minter.
Minter previously served as an assistant with the team from 2017-2020 and was most recently Jim Harbaugh’s defensive coordinator with the Chargers.
But his first move in charge in Baltimore could well involve quarterback Lamar Jackson and convincing the former NFL MVP to remain with the Ravens.
Lamar Jackson Might Want Out Of Baltimore
It’s no secret that the 2025 season didn’t go according to plan for Jackson, a two-time league MVP and three-time All-Pro.
Jackson battled injuries throughout the season and threw for just 2,549 yards, 21 touchdowns, and seven interceptions to go along with 349 rushing yards, by a far a career low, even with nearly twice as many starts as he had in 2018.
The whole time, rumors swirled about Jackson’s work ethic and alleged fallout with former head coach, John Harbaugh.
So, even with Harbaugh gone and Minter in, could Jackson have his mind set on continuing his career somewhere else?

On Thursday afternoon, Jackson retweeted a post by X user @shantel_jlopez that read, “Is this a good time to point out my (then) 3 year MAY have predicted the potential move for @Lj_era8 to the Raiders..
After Baltimore announced the Minter hiring, Jackson removed the retweet.
Maybe that’s a sign that he liked the higher. Or maybe someone with the Ravens asked him to remove it. But Las Vegas holds the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and if the Ravens truly feel the need to rebuild entirely, there’s no bigger trade chip than Jackson.
It would seem like a wild move. After all, Baltimore has a good amount of young talent on the roster with him. But it’s clearly something that Jackson is at least thinking about in the back of his mind.
