Absolutely Nobody Showed Up To Watch Baylor Play First Conference Game Against Ranked Opponent

Dave Aranda may not make it through the rest of the 2024 college football season as the head coach at Baylor University. He is firmly on the hot seat and fan support continues to dwindle with every week.

The Bears drew an abysmal crowd on Saturday that does not reflect well on his job security.

Baylor went 2-7 during Aranda’s first year, which was hindered by the pandemic. It bounced back with a 12-2 season in 2021 and reinvigorated the fanbase in Waco.

However, the program has been on a steady decline ever since.

A loss in the 2022 Armed Forces Bowl saw the Bears finish at 6-7. A 3-9 season in 2023 turned up the heat for Aranda. He needed to turn things around for 2024 if he wanted to save his job, which has not happened thus far.

Baylor lost to Utah and Colorado. It was 2-2 through four games.

Despite all of the ineptitude, the Bears were somehow listed as 2.5-point favorites over the visiting BYU Cougars for Saturday’s Big 12 opener. The line did not make a lot of sense.

Baylor fans saw right through it. They left Dave Aranda to coach in a mostly empty stadium.

The crowd was practically nonexistent and the 300-level was less than 25% filled at kickoff.

In fact, there was almost as much blue in the stands as there was gold and green.

If the first quarter of play was any indication, the Bears fans who decided to watch the game from their couch made the correct decision. BYU went up 21-0 on Baylor during the first 10 minutes of play.

Dave Aranda’s job is likely to be terminated in the coming weeks. Not only is his team failing to win games, the fastest way to get fired is by losing fan support.

And, clearly, he already lost fan support…
