The Beach Volleyball Court At The Paris Olympics Has An Unreal View Of The Eiffel Tower

Paris is home to plenty of historic landmarks, but I’d argue none of them are as iconic as the Eiffel Tower.

There’s little doubt that structure will be prominently featured when the coverage of the 2024 Summer Olympics kicks off—especially when it comes to the beach volleyball court that easily boasts the best view of any of the venues being harnessed for the competition.

As is the case with every host city, Paris will be relying on the Olympics to remind the world of what it has to offer and has seemingly been pretty deliberate when it comes to figuring out ways to highlight its assets.

For example, the Paris Olympics will eschew the opening ceremony most people have become accustomed to in favor of a boat parade on the Seine (the same waterway that will host the 10-kilometer swimming marathon as well as the first leg of the triathlon if the powers that be are able to get their poop problem under control in time).

Paris isn’t home to any permanent beaches (although pop-up sandy oases known as the “Paris Plages” appear along the Seine each summer), which obviously means organizers needed to figure out where they were going to host the beach volleyball competition.

They ultimately opted to construct a temporary stadium on the Champ de Mars (the park that’s home to the Eiffel Tower), and on Thursday, we were treated to a video that proves you want to land a seat on the south side of that venue if you’re attending a beach volleyball match in person thanks to the unreal view of the engineering marvel.

Here are a few photos that provide even more insight into how things are structured.

We’ll theoretically get our first look at the stadium when the beach volleyball prelims begin on June 27th, which will kick off a two-week stretch that will culminate with the men’s gold medal match being played on August 10th.
