There was little doubt Simone Biles was going to punch her ticket to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, and the Chicago Bears are pulling a classy move to make sure her husband will be able to cheer for her in person after she officially secured her spot on the team.

There isn’t a single gymnast on the planet who can currently come close to matching the excellence of Simone Biles, who seemed poised to add to her impressive collection of medals when the Summer Olympics were belatedly held in Tokyo in 2021 before she succumbed to the case of “the twisties” that led to a shocking withdrawal (although she did come home with a team silver and an individual bronze in the balance beam).

The 27-year-old superstar is intent on getting some redemption when the 2024 Olympics kick off in Paris at the end of July, and she’ll be the favorite in the majority of the events she ends up competing in.

While her participation was essentially a foregone conclusion, Biles still had to firm up her spot on the roster at the Olympic Gymnastics Trials in Minneapolis over the weekend, and she did exactly that by finishing first in the all-around competition to ensure she’ll be representing the United States at the international showcase for a third time.

This will be the first Olympics Biles has competed in since getting married to Jonathan Owens, the NFL safety who inked a two-year deal with the Chicago Bears earlier this year following a one-and-done stint with the Packers.

Owens (who has been at the receiving end of some objectively bizarre harassment because he once admitted he didn’t know who Biles was when they initially met) has been a staple in the crowd when his wife is competing, but there were some questions surrounding his presence in Paris when you consider the Bears are slated to kick off training camp around a week before the Summer Olympics begin.

Thankfully, the franchise has decided to go out of its way to accommodate him, as Biles told USA Today it’s given Owens permission to head to France to watch her compete, saying:

“The Bears are actually granting him a couple days off from training camp, so he’ll be there, yes. For just a short little time.”
