Ben Affleck has finally explained why he often looks so miserable and frustrated when photographed alongside his wife Jennifer Lopez.
Speaking to Kevin Hart on his Hart to Heart talk show, the 51-year-old actor, writer, and director said that it’s “f—— bananas” being married to her because of how famous she is.
Affleck specifically recounted a time that he and Jennifer Lopez were walking in New York City and how her fame — and therefore the attention paid to her — made him uncomfortable.
“We get out of the car, we were going to a play, and I was like, ‘F— it, babe, we’re going to be late, we gotta walk a block and a half.’ [Lopez] was like, ‘Alright,’” Affleck explained.
“We get out with her, all the kids, through Times Square, and the s—- was like f—— bananas. I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ There was a lady, she was smoking weed, in a full purple skintight suit—she’s a heavy lady—and she starts running backwards filming, going ‘J-LO!!’”
Affleck explained that when he encounters fans, they say something simple such as “I liked your movie,” but when Lopez encounters her fans, it’s chaos.
This, Affleck says, is why he always looks so angry in their photos together: he’s sick of the attention.
“I don’t like a lot of attention. This is why people see me and they’re like, ‘Why is this dude always mad?’ Because someone had their camera sticking in my face, and I’m like, ‘OK, here we go.’”
Affleck and Lopez, after originally dating for a couple of years in the early 2000s, rekindled their relationship in 2021 and got married in the summer of 2022. This year, however, the couple has been the subject of incessant rumors about a potential divorce.
While their personal relationship may be nearing its end, Affleck and Lopez still have professional commitments together as Affleck’s production company Artists Equity has produced both of her upcoming films: Unstoppable and Kiss of the Spider Woman.
