Hot dogs, peanuts, and ice cream served in tiny helmets are probably among the first things that spring to mind when it comes to the food that’s served up at a baseball game. However, MLB teams have gotten increasingly creative on the culinary front, and they’re rolling out some over-the-top options for the 2026 season.

We ranked the best new additions to the menus at MLB stadiums that will be debuting some unique ballpark food for the 2026 season

The action on the diamond tends to be the main attraction when you attend an MLB game, but baseball teams go to great lengths to maximize the entire gameday experience. That includes an emphasis on the food that’s served up inside the stadium, which has come a long way over the years.

Many teams will be rolling out new items for the 2026 campaign, and here’s a look at some of the most notable additions that will be arriving this season.

8. The 9-9-9 Challenge—New York Mets

The “9-9-9 Challenge” is not a new invention, but it took MLB stadiums by storm in 2025. The concept is simple: you have nine innings to eat nine hot dogs and drink nine beers and the rest of the day to grapple with your decision to try to do so.

I respect the Mets for trotting out an official version, but I have a hard time endorsing the decision to serve miniature hot dogs and minuscule beers that will make you feel like Andre the Giant drinking a regular one.

7. Watermelon Habanero Margarita—Los Angeles Dodgers

I know this list is technically supposed to be devoted to food, and the Dodgers aren’t necessarily breaking new ground with a watermelon habanero margarita that would surely hit the spot on a warm day but is still a pretty run-of-the-mill cocktail.

However, as someone who is an absolute sucker for novelty souvenir drinkware, this earns a mention thanks almost entirely to the custom tiny cooler it’s served in.

6. A 128-Ounce Bucket Of Nachos—Arizona Diamondbacks

The Diamondbacks would lead you to believe the nachos that come in a gallon-sized bucket and can be topped with barbacoa, carnitas, or fajita veggies are supposed to be “shareable.” However, I know I’m far from the only person who would view that label as a challenge to prove that doesn’t have to be the case.

5. The Southside Supreme—Chicago White Sox

Deep-dish pizza and Italian beef sandwiches are probably Chicago’s biggest claim to fame on the culinary front, and this offering combines the two while also nodding to the hot dogs the city is known for with the giardiniera that tops a traditional one.

4. Footlong Elote Corn Dog—Arizona Diamondbacks

A typical corn dog doesn’t actually contain any corn, but that’s not the case with the one being served up at Chase Field this season, which draws inspiration from the iconic Mexican street food that is elote.

The footlong hot dog is traditionally prepared before being topped with fire-roasted corn, Cotija cheese, Tajín, cilantro, and chipotle aioli, and my only fear is that it would end up ruining regular corn dogs going forward.

3. Machete—Miami Marlins

I can’t count how many quesadillas I’ve had over the course of my life. However, I can count how many of them were made with a two-foot-long tortilla and came in a custom carrying case: zero. It’s definitely zero.

That number would certainly rise to one if I headed down to Miami for a Marlins game and ordered the “Machete,” which is filled with carne asada, a guajillo pepper sauce and salsa verde, mozzarella and Oaxaca cheese, and some cilantro.

2. The Take Me Out To The Ballgame Shake—Arizona Diamondbacks

Does anyone really need a salted caramel milkshake that’s topped with whipped cream, Cracker Jack, Kit Kats, and Nutter Butters? No, but I have to applaud the Diamondbacks for rolling out a concoction capable of drawing people with a sweet tooth like moths to a flame.

I know Arizona is disproportionately represented here, but they earned the right to be.

1. Chicken and Churros—Chicago Cubs

As someone who has a hard time resisting the urge to order chicken and waffles when I see it on a menu, I would definitely have to pull the trigger on this twist on that soul food staple if I ended up at Wrigley Field this season.

This dish features fried chicken thighs paired with churros, which are drizzled with ancho syrup and served up with some strawberries. Your heart may hate you, but your stomach will thank you.
