If his girlfriend’s activity on social media is any indication, Bill Belichick is all-in on an opportunity to become the next college football coach at North Carolina. Jordon Hudson recently followed three very specific accounts on Instagram that seem to hint at what is to come.
However, the 72-year-old reportedly made very specific demands that need to be met by the university if he is going to accept the job.
Belichick wants to get back to coaching. By all accounts, he is bored of the entertainment grind and is chomping at the bit to return to the sideline. UNC presented him with that possibility.
Even though Tom Brady does not think it will work, the Tar Heels’ brass met with the six-time Super Bowl champion on multiple occasions to discuss his potential hire. Their most recent meeting lasted no less than five hours. Both sides are doing extensive research before they jump into the deep end.
North Carolina has yet to present a formal agreement to Belichick, who revealed on the Pat McAfee Show why he would consider taking the job if he was offered. “If” is the key word there.
According to Ollie Connolly, publisher of the Read-Optional, Belichick went to the university with a strict outline of what he needs and the ball is now in the Tar Heels’ court. They can either accept his demands or hire someone else.
Belichick has agreed to become the next UNC coach. Belichick handed the school a 400-page “organizational bible” with structure, payment plans, staffing choices etc. decisions on whether to commit with UNC. He is expected to know their decision within 24 hours.

The “bible” is focused mostly on program structure. Belichick wants to essentially build two different staffs. One would handle the Xs and Os. The other would handle all other day-to-day operations like NIL and roster management.
Belichick’s bible would require historic levels of investment from the school. Includes salary minimums position by position and a willingness to hire two staffs: a coaching staff run by Belichick; a recruitment staff run by a sitting college GM — who would require a buyout.

This is not a new idea. Belichick held onto this vision for quite some time, which also includes a nepotistic clause for his son. All he had to do was cater his plan specifically to the University of North Carolina.
Belichick has a college and pro version of his updated manual and has shared it with other schools and NFL teams. But he drafted a new one specific to UNC that touched on every aspect of the program and school. Will need sign off from AD, chancellor, trustees and boosters.

Deliberation is ongoing in Chapel Hill. The ground-breaking hire may or may not happen. Bill Belichick wants what he wants and will not settle for anything less.
There has already been pushback from the group of 13 trustees, with input from wider faculty. The investment would overhaul the school’s approach to football; Belichick unsure if the school will meet the demands and is unwilling to negotiate.

As things currently stand, the decision is up to UNC. Belichick’s 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, seems to think the Tar Heels will not turn him down. She already followed the school, its football team and the football’s nutrition department on Instagram.
