Former head coach Robert Saleh, demoted offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, future Hall of Fame QB Aaron Rodgers, general manager Joe Douglas, and so on: these are some of the names that are tossed around when debating who’s responsible for the current mess that the New York Jets are in.

But the truth is, none of those people have overseen a 13-year playoff-less streak, the longest postseason drought in American professional sports. The person responsible for that is Woody Johnson, the Jets’ owner and one of the worst owners in sports.

Legendary head coach Bill Belichick certainly understands that as he ripped into Johnson during the Manningcast stream on Monday night during the Jets’ 23-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills, dropping their record to 2-4.

“I’m not a big Jets fan, in case you don’t know that,” Belichick told Peyton and Eli Manning on Monday night. “You know what, coach Saleh did a good job with that program … “That’s kinda what it’s been there with the Jets. They’ve barely won over 30% in the last 10 years. The owner being the owner … ready, fire aim.”

With the loss to the Bills, the Jets now sit in third place in the AFC East with a 2-4 record.

Perhaps not willing to give up on the season just yet, Jets fans will likely cling to the fact that their schedule down the stretch is on the easier side, as they’ll take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots, Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, Seattle Seahawks, Miami Dolphins (twice), Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams, and the Bills again.

The issue the Jets face, however, is that neither the defense nor Aaron Rodgers seems skilled enough to mask the other’s flaws.
