Although Boston College lost to Virginia Tech by three touchdowns during Thursday’s college football game in Blacksburg, the Eagles earned high praise for how they treated the facilities while on the road. The visiting locker room was spotless.
Bill O’Brien leads his program from the front and expects a culture of respect from his organization!
Lane Stadium, which opened in 1965, is one of the most intimidating environments in college football on Thursday nights. While most fanbases usually complain about a weekday game, the Hokies look forward to it every year. Their ‘Enter Sandman’ tradition will give you chills every single time.

The Eagles could not handle the Thursday night game in Blacksburg. Boston College was unable to match the energy and quickly fell behind 28-0 at halftime. Virginia Tech went on to win by 21.
O’Brien was obviously frustrated with the result. As were his players.
Even though they had every reason not to care about what they left behind, the Eagles made sure to treat the visitor’s locker room as if it was their own. All of the trash was thrown away. Every single chair was returned to its respective locker. Nothing was out of place.
Honestly, based on both the score and the condition of the locker room, you would never know they were there.
The Hokies were verey impressed by the state of their locker room after the game. Virginia Tech’s grounds crew made sure to give Boston College its well-deserved flowers on social media.
Thank you Boston College Football. Locker room was left clean with all the chairs put back in the lockers. VT appreciates it. pic.twitter.com/iR34YcArKZ

This is the first post of its kind from the grounds crew this season. Marshall and Rutgers also played games at Lane Stadium. Neither the Thundering Herd nor the Scarlet Knights received this same compliment.
Bill O’Brien has always preached respect at every stop. He is known to be a no-nonsense kind of guy with high expectations for how his team carries itself both on and off of the field. His players and staffers clearly bought-in.
Boston College left Virginia Tech’s visiting locker room in the same condition as when it arrived. Class move.
