TikTok star Brandon Dwyer ended his college basketball career with exactly zero points in four years. His viral quest to surpass LeBron James on the all-time leaderboard fell one point short.
It was a heck of a run!
Dwyer began his college basketball career with one season at La Salle. He registered two minutes of play during a win over Fairleigh Dickinson but did not score during that appearance. The 6-foot-3 walk-on later transferred to Florida Gulf Coast prior to his sophomore year in 2022 and his TikTok account started to blow up around that same time.
NIL opportunities do not exist for walk-ons unless they create those opportunities for themselves so Dwyer very quickly became a master of social media. His brand focuses on life as a walk-on and his ultimate goal of scoring just one single point during an actual game. He gained more than one million followers during three seasons with the Eagles. It is one of the most popular accounts in college sports!
The self-deprecating humor is what really sets him apart, in addition to his behind-the-scenes look at the life of a Division-I athlete. Dwyer took one shot as a freshman and missed. The same as a sophomore.
He also failed to record a single minute as a junior, which left him with one final year to score one point during the 2024-25 season. It all came down to his senior season. Brandon Dwyer attempted two three-pointers in seven minutes of action during the regular season and missed them both. Other opportunities for him to shoot were squandered by his teammates.
That brings us to Monday, when Florida Gulf Coast played against Queens in the quarterfinals of the ASUN Tournament. It was his final shot to shoot, literally.
The Eagles lost, which marked the end of Dwyer’s college basketball career. he did not get in the game. Thus, he did not score. His four years came to a close with a final stat line of 0-for-3.
