A pitcher in the Atlanta Braves minor league system has quite possibly the most atrocious stat line you’ll ever lay eyes on. Through three innings, he’s thrown 35 wild pitches – and that’s just the start!

The definition of ineffectively wild, Francisco Vicioso is winless across 10 appearances thanks to his unprecedented inability to find the strike zone.

Vicioso has been playing in the Dominican Summer League since 2023, appearing in three games last year and another seven this season. Results have been… underwhelming.

In that ’23 campaign, the righty made two starts while appearing in relief once. Across those three appearances, he allowed 13 runs while recording just one out for a 351.00 ERA. In that time, he threw 17 wild pitches, walked 11 opponents, and tallied four hit batters.

The results have actually gotten better in ’24, where he’s thrown 18 wild pitches while recording 17 walks across 2.2 innings.

Over those 10 total appearances, he boasts an ERA of 60.00. It doesn’t seem to matter the situation; his consistently control evades him. He’s lost both of his starts, blown his only save opportunity, and has struggled in each of his relief spots.

The Braves must see some upside in Francisco Vicioso.

If there’s a positive, it’s his strikeout rate. Of the nine outs he’s successfully recorded, six have been by way of the K.

Still, those outs seem to be few and far between considering it’s taken 150 pitches to get through those three innings of combined work.

Adding insult to injury, his wild tendencies aren’t contained to just his pitching. The 19-year-old has also committed three errors in his only three fielding opportunities!

The Braves obviously see something in the right-handed youngster as they’ve continued to give him opportunities in the Dominican Summer League.

While the control is clearly miles away, Francisco Vicioso does at least possess mid-90s velocity.

Still, if he hopes to achieve his dream of one day pitching in the bigs, his ability to find the zone will have to see a marked improvement.
