The 69th edition of the Rocky Mountain Showdown got chippy thanks to the actions of Colorado State quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi. The passer’s antics both on and off the field riled up the Colorado Buffaloes, who went on to win the rivalry game by three scores.

Prior to that matchup, Fowler-Nicolosi went viral for shading the Buffs. “We’ll see how far their Instagram followers get them,” he said a few days before kickoff.

His trash talk aged very poorly!

The Buffs came out firing, and they wouldn’t let off. Despite holding a 28-9 fourth quarter advantage, Colorado continued to air it out in hopes of adding to its lead.

The reason for that was directly related to the pregame trash talk, which was only made worse by Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi in the first half.

Trailing 14-3 with the final minute of play ticking from the scoreboard, the Rams quarterback was seen attempting to troll Travis Hunter on the sidelines.

It did not go well for him!

Fowler-Nicolosi struggled to find success against Colorado on Saturday night, throwing a pair of interceptions and no touchdowns. He’s now thrown five picks against the Buffs across his last two meetings, both losses.

After the game, Deion Sanders couldn’t believe the signal caller’s attempt to mock his best player.

“How stupid is that?” he asked in a postgame press conference. “This is Travis Hunter… I wouldn’t allow my kids to do that… When you allow kids to sit in an interview and talk against us, and you just got beat by 50-something in Week 1? C’mon dog. Somebody help me here. Am I missing something?… Who does that?”

Coach Prime called out Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi, while taking a veiled shot at Jay Norvell’s leadership in the process!

After the game, Shedeur Sanders echoed the feelings of his father by refusing to shake his opponent’s hand at midfield. They’d heard enough!

With the win, the Buffs improved to 2-1 on the year while picking up their seventh consecutive victory in the series.
