There was plenty of booze flowing when the Liberty hit the streets of New York City to celebrate their WNBA title, and one fan in attendance went out of their way to make sure Breanna Stewart got the red wine she was craving during the celebration.

On Sunday, the New York Liberty secured their first championship in franchise history with a 67-62 victory over the Minnesota Lynx in Game 5 of the WNBA Finals in a series where the winning team was propelled to a title thanks to contributions from the multiple stars who helped them earn the top seed in the playoffs.

Jonquel Jones ultimately earned Finals MVP honors, but the Liberty got plenty of help from Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart during the team effort that ended with the squad winning a championship 28 years after the WNBA franchise set up shop in The Big Apple.

On Thursday, the Liberty were treated to a ticker-tape parade on the stretch of Broadway in lower Manhattan known as the Canyon of Heroes, and as players were preparing to kick off the procession, Stewart hopped online to see if someone in the crowd might be able to snag her a bottle of red wine she could pop open during the festivities.

That call for help was seemingly answered courtesy of a fan who set up shop right across from City Hall, as Stewart was high-fiving fans on the block between Murray Street and Warren Street when a guy behind the barricade handed her a paper bag that certainly appeared to contain the requested item.

As evidenced by the picture at the top of this post, Stewart also got to help herself to a bottle of Ace of Spades, but I’m glad to see she got the chance to scratch her red wine itch.
