Oakland A’s slugger Brent Rooker got into an interesting interaction with a baseball fan online this week before announcing that he’d be taking a break from social media.

That fan had hoped to see Rooker hit a home run in a recent matchup against the Angels. Unfortunately, he did not.

The homerless night cost the sports bettor (@skunkii_plays) a chance at a near $22,000 payday as he’d parlayed a Brent Rooker homer with a number of other props involving MLB players. Rooker didn’t care!

After the game, the fan slid into the A’s outfielder’s DMs, saying, “You sold me yesterday! 1 leg away from $21k and you could only hit singles.”

Rooker did go 3-4 on the night, but he never left the yard!

He later replied to the criticism on social media.

Brent Rooker does not care about your bets!

“My brother, I cannot even begin to express how much I do not care,” he responded in that online conversation.

After seeing the interaction go viral on X, Rooker posted a follow-up message.

I’m sure Mr. Skunkii is a wonderful guy. We get far worse messages than this on a nightly basis, so sometimes it’s fun to pick a more lighthearted one and interact a little bit. If fans get to say whatever they want to us, we get to reply sometimes. It’s all in good fun of course!

He then announced a decision to log off for the rest of the season.

That being said I am logging back off Twitter. See you guys in the off-season!

What a way to go out!

Rooker is one of the bright spots in what’s been a disappointing season in Oakland. The outfielder is hitting .294 on the year with team-leading 25 home runs and 75 RBIs.

When his offseason begins is still to be determined. Should he remain with the A’s, he’ll be done with the year in September as the team is an AL West worst 44-64. Should he be traded to a playoff contender, that date could get pushed back a bit.

Oakland is reportedly hesitant to get rid of him, suggesting we could see him back online sooner rather than later.

For those choosing to bet on his props as the season continues on, just remember he does not care if your wagers hit!
