The Oklahoma Sooners have one commitment from a five-star prospect in their 2025 recruiting class. On Tuesday, head football coach Brent Venables appeared to call him out!
Michael Fasusi is considered a Top 20 player in the upcoming cycle, regardless of position. He made a pledge to play for the Sooners way back in August.
That doesn’t mean he shut down his recruitment completely, however. The offensive lineman, who hails from the Lonestar State, is still receiving interest from the likes of Texas and Texas A&M on the trail.
With the college football season soon coming to an end, the big man reportedly wants to make a trip to each campus to take in a home game before the year is through. That doesn’t sit well with Brent Venables!
The coach threw a lightly veiled jab at his top prospect, questioning his loyalty to the program he’s currently committed to play for.

It’s an outlook shared by Venables’ former boss, Dabo Swinney. The coach has a “no visit” policy for his committed players. Essentially, he’s saying, “Don’t commit until you’re 100% sure.” Fasusi doesn’t seem to be sure!
Multiple reports claim that Michael Fasusi plans to attend this weekend’s game in Austin as the Longhorns take on SEC rival Kentucky. He’d be choosing that matchup despite the fact that Oklahoma’s hosting Alabama in Norman this Saturday.
Those reports also say that he’ll be in College Station the following week to watch the Aggies take on Texas in a huge rivalry game with potential College Football Playoff implications. Those trips might be what Fasusi needs in order to make the best decision for him.
Can Oklahoma hold onto his commitment, or will a rival swipe the 5-star lineman away? Brent Venables’ comments probably didn’t do much to help his situation if Fasusi is, indeed, having second thoughts.
