The Brewers are currently the best team in the MLB, and they’ve been on an absolute tear since the start of July. Fans in the Milwaukee area recently earned the right to get some free burgers at a local chain courtesy of a lengthy winning streak, but one person who couldn’t wait to take advantage decided to get the police involved after jumping the gun.
Fans of the Milwaukee Brewers have become fairly accustomed to disappointment since the franchise played its inaugural season in 1969.
It took more than a decade for the team to make the playoffs for the first time, and while they made it to the World Series in 1982 before losing to the Cardinals, that marked the first and only time they’ve advanced that far and ushered in a 25-year postseason drought that was snapped with a one-and-done showing in 2008.
There’s still plenty of room for improvement, but the Brewers have recently managed to inspire some hope with the unprecedented amount of success they’ve experienced while only missing the playoffs a single time since 2018.
They headed into the current season hoping to end up at the top of the NL Central for the third year in a row, and they are well on their way to doing exactly that with the MLB-best 76-44 record that currently puts them 7.5 games ahead of the second-place Cubs.
Milwaukee has also posted a 27-4 record since July 6th and is currently riding a 12-game winning streak that triggered a decades-old promotion that will entitle fans to free burgers at George Webb, a restaurant chain that can only be found in Wisconsin and was recently at the center of a 911 call thanks to someone who really, really wanted to take advantage.

The Brewers had lost three of their last four games before earning a win over the Marlins on July 6th, and the team rattled off 11 consecutive victories before the streak was snapped with a 1-0 loss to the Mariners on July 22nd.
That was a brutal development for the Brewers fans who were on the verge of landing a free burger at George Webb, which has long promised to hand them out whenever the team goes on a 12-game winning streak; the promo was triggered for the first time in 1987 and resulted in the distribution of 168,000 sandwiches, and another 190,000 were doled out in 2010.
On Wednesday, George Webb announced it was gearing up for the third giveaway at its 31 restaurants in Wisconsin after Milwaukee earned a 12-5 win over the Mariners in a contest where the Brewers essentially put things away by scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
According to WISN, someone who headed to the George Webb location at 19555 W Bluemound Road in Brookfield prematurely attempted to cash in before being told they’d have to wait, which prompted a call to the 911 dispatcher who relayed that complaint to police officers who were asked to handle the matter.
