Brian Kelly is confident that LSU can beat USC to begin the 2024 college football season in Las Vegas on Sunday. Not only does he think the Tigers will win, he actually expects it to get ugly for the Trojans.

However, the third-year head coach has yet to learn from his mistakes in the past.

Kelly proudly declared that his team was going to “beat the heck out of Florida State” on his radio show prior to Week 1 last year. That is not what happened. At all. LSU lost by three touchdowns.

He did it again on Thursday.

USC is a 4.5-point underdog in the Vegas Kickoff Classic. Caleb Williams is gone. It may not be the same team as it was in the past two seasons. There are a lot of questions that will need to be answered about the potential of Lincoln Riley’s squad.

On the flip side, the Bayou Bengals return a lot of talent on both sides of the ball and have the utmost faith in new starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. The folks in Baton Rouge genuinely believe their team can make the College Football Playoff and compete for a national title. We’ll see.

To go 12-0, LSU has to begin the college football season at 1-0. That starts in Nevada.

Kelly made a prediction for the game on Thursday night. He made yet another bold claim about what is going to happen on the same radio show that proved to be a jinx before the 2023 season-opener.

Brian Kelly proudly declared that his team is “in great position to go beat the pants off of USC.”

Hmmmm…….. sound familiar? Is this going to be a bad case of deja vu?

Tune in on Sunday night. It would be absolutely hilarious if Kelly manages to jinx his team for the second year in a row. Especially if he was to triple down next fall.
