Someone Spent An Absurd Amount On The Jersey Bronny James Wore In His Summer League Debut

There’s no way to know how Bronny James is going to fare in the NBA, but there’s at least one person who seems to think he has a bright future ahead of him based on how much money they dropped on the jersey he wore in his first Summer League game.

In June, the Los Angeles Lakers opted to use the 55th overall pick in the NBA Draft to scoop up Bronny James, who averaged 4.8 points, 2.1 assists, and 2.8 rebounds in the 25 games he played in his one and only season as a member of the USC Trojans.

You won’t find many guys with those stats who end up becoming a lottery pick after their freshman year in college, but you also won’t encounter many scenarios where an NBA franchise has the chance to make one of the best players in basketball history happy by drafting his son.

As things currently stand, it would appear LeBron James and Bronny James will become the first father-son duo in NBA history to share the court in a game when the 2024 season kicks off (they’ll also be the first to play in the league at the same time).

Bronny will enter his rookie season a few weeks after celebrating his 20th birthday, and it would appear he has his work cut out for him when it comes to proving he belongs in the NBA based on a fairly shaky Summer League performance where he averaged 8.8 points, a single assist, and 3.5 rebounds in the four games he played in Las Vegas.

However, one person is hoping he’ll end up surpassing expectations based on how much they paid for the jersey Bronny was wearing in his Summer League debut against the Sacramento Kings on July 6th, as Yahoo Sports reports the piece of apparel he was rocking in a contest where he scored four points while shooting 2-for-9 from the field was auctioned off for $38,400 in a sale where it was expected to go for between $6k and $10k.

For the sake of comparison,  the jersey first overall pick Zaccharie Risacher wore in his first Summer League fetched $3,360.

It seems like a bit of a questionable investment, but if you have close to $40,000 to spend on a jersey in the first place, I imagine you’ll be just fine in the long run.
