Bryce Underwood is considered to be the top-ranked quarterback in the college football recruiting Class of 2025. The five-star Michigan-native committed to LSU back in January over 40 other scholarship offers from virtually every elite program in the country.
However, there are rumors out there that he could flip his commitment to the in-state Wolverines because of a massive NIL deal.
Underwood seemed to indicate otherwise. He, quite literally, laughed at the idea on social media.
Interestingly enough, there was not any scuttlebutt about Underwood’s possible flip until recently.
Some of the rumors are attributed to Ann Arbor-based 247 Sports affiliate, The Michigan Insider. Sam Webb teased “fireworks” on the website’s message board last week.
To make things even more curious, Dave Portnoy pledged upwards of $3 million to the University of Michigan’s NIL fund at the end of September. He promised to make sure his alma mater lands a top-10 quarterback in every recruiting cycle.
The 47-year-old owner of Barstool Sports essentially doubled down on his promise after a loss to Illinois on Saturday night.
To all Michigan fans. Im working on it.

Perhaps because of Portnoy’s financial commitment, there has been a lot of chatter about Underwood. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound quarterback is from Michigan and he is the No. 1 overall recruit in the country.
If Portnoy was going to pay $3 million for the Wolverines to land a signal-caller, an in-state prospect considered to be the best player in the United States at the aforementioned position of need would make a lot of sense. Right? Wrong.
Bryce Underwood is not interested!
A popular college football meme account posted an image to Instagram over the weekend. It claimed that Underwood was offered $4 million to play for Michigan instead of LSU.
That does not appear to be true.
Underwood responded directly to the post with his reaction. All he wrote was a string of four laughing emojis.

Enough said!
The rumor mill in college football never sleeps. Someone, somewhere, always has some kind of inside information he heard from his brother’s wife’s cousin’s neighbor’s postman’s dog-walker. Most of it is phooey.
In this specific instance, we will not know whether Bryce Underwood stays true to his commitment to LSU until he arrives to campus. However, the laughing emojis seem to indicate everything we need to know.
