Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young has had a no-good, very bad week.

It began with the Panthers seemingly giving up on the former Alabama quarterback less than two years after trading several assets to draft him No. 1 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.

But it only got worse from there, because Young’s (now) ex-girlfriend, former Alabama basketball player Myra Gordon, was seen with Philadephia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey at the Philadelphia Eagles game against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night.

Fans immediately blamed Gordon for Young’s struggles.

It may also explain why Young was seen on the verge of tears during Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

After the game, reporters asked Young about his mental state. His response was positive, but not exactly inspiring.

“I draw confidence from the lord, I’m very blessed and I’m grateful for this challenge, not an ideal start but God is everything for a reason,” he said. “I have faith in that.”

After getting benched, media members asked Young about his mindset, and his tune had changed a bit.

“Last year and these first two games for the most part every snap has hit my hands and I didn’t do enough with it at the end of the day,” Young said. “I take accountability for that. There are plays and a long list of things that I wish I was better at and I’m going to continue to work and grow and be better at them. I’m always going to look in the mirror.

“If I went out there and played better, and we won games, we wouldn’t be having this conversation,” he continued.

The good news is it probably can’t get worse. You lost your job. You seemingly lost your girlfriend. This is rock bottom.

But now he can begin to move forward.
