The dialogue surrounding Bryce Young and his viability as a starting quarterback in the NFL is going to reach deafening levels if the Carolina Panthers do not turn things around in the immediate future. In fact, we may already be at that point after another ugly performance on Sunday.
Fans were not kind to their team as it went into the locker room down 20-0 at halftime.
They are embarrassed to be seen in public. The paper bags are already out in WEEK 2!
Boos rained down in Charlotte. Most of them were directed at the second-year signal-caller, who was on the receiving end of criticism throughout the entire first 30 minutes of play.

One particular throw was perhaps his worst. Young tried to split a pair of Chargers defenders and ripped a pass into no man’s land. It was a bad read. The ball was picked off.
we'll take that

Young looked like he wanted to cry. He was visibly upset with himself and the situation.

The first half stat line for the No. 1 overall pick in 2023 was bizarre.
Young completed eight of his 10 pass attempts for… 22 yards. That was it. 2.75 yards per catch without a touchdown, with an interception. Weird. Ugly. Gross.
Bryce Young is not playing well.
To be fair to Young, some of the struggles stem from his offensive line. He rarely has more than a few seconds to make something happen. However, what he does when the pocket collapses is just as bad as the protection.

First-year head coach Dave Canales has a pressing decision to make. Is it time to relegate Bryce Young to the bench? Andy Dalton is the backup and surely he can’t be much worse.
On one end of the debate, Carolina might risk losing the locker room if it does not make the switch. On the other end of the debate, the Panthers do not have any chance of winning the Super Bowl — or even making the playoffs — so there is no point in, essentially, ending Young’s career as a starter. It is quite the conundrum.
