Fans across the world are making fun of LIV Golf superstar Bryson Dechambeau on Friday after a graphic revealed each of the nicknames he has for his various clubs.
Dechambeau, one of golf’s great characters, is unique in that all of his irons are cut to the same length.
But besides the numbers on the bottom of them and the loft, he has another way of telling them all apart from one another.

Bryson Dechambeau Has Several Ridiculous Names For His Golf Clubs
During Friday morning’s second round at the U.S. Open, NBC Sports posted a graphic revealing the nicknames Dechambeau keeps for each of his clubs.
The list is, well, interesting:
3 iron – Gamma
5 iron – Azalea
6 iron – Juniper
7 iron – Tin Cup
8 iron – 8 Ball
9 iron – Jackie
Pitching Wedge – Herman Keiser
Gap Wedge – Jimmy Demaret
Sand Wedge – Mr. Ward
Lob Wedge – King
Many of the names make sense. The wedges are all named for golf legends, with “King” referring to Arnold Palmer. His 3-iron is named for the third letter in the Greek alphabet, while his 5-iron and 6-iron are named after holes at Augusta Nation. His 7-iron is named after the famed Kevin Costner movie, whole his 8-iron refers to the Billards game he enjoys playing.
But what about his 9-iron, Jackie?
Well, as it turns out that’s a tribute to baseball legend Jackie Robinsom, who broke the MLB color barrier in 1947. But why the 9-iron? Well, because it has 42 degrees of loft, the same number that Robinson wore throughout his career.
Fans found that name pretty amusing.

Regardless of the criticism, Dechambeau put his clubs to good use on Friday. He fired a 1-under, 69 to put him in the clubhouse at 4-under headed into the weekend. That’s just two shots behind current leader Thomas Detry, who is still on the course.
