Bryson DeChambeau and former president Donald Trump went golfing together as part of Bryson’s ‘Break 50’ challenge where he and another golfer attempt to break 50 on the course by playing a scramble from the red tees. They came *this close* to being the first duo to break 50 on Bryson’s YouTube channel and shot a -22 round of 50 on the number, the best score I can recall from Bryson’s ‘Break 50’ challenge on his channel.

This came together after Bryson DeChambeau revealed on his YouTube channel that he reached out to both former President Trump‘s and current President Biden’s campaigns to see if either party would be interested in doing this challenge with him to raise money for the wounded combat veterans. Through the first hour of the video being live on Bryson’s YouTube channel he has raised $4,472 for the Wounded Warrior Project.

The duo were -6 through 5 holes but when they stood on the 6th hole green they were only able to walk away with a par. That was the only par on their scorecard and had they been able to muster up a birdie there they would have been the first duo on Bryson’s channel to break 50.

For this challenge, they played at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey which also hosts a LIV Golf Tour event where Bryson plays these days. The video was evidently filmed before recent events as the former president is seen wearing a red hat without a bandage on his ear. It is the former President Trump who sinks the final birdie putt on 18 to give them a combined score of 50 (-22), just one stroke shy of completing the challenge.

At this point, Bryson DeChambeau is on a quest to hit 1 million subscribers on YouTube before the end of the month. His YouTube channel has grown immensely fast and with the former President Trump allowing this many cameras to film his golf game this video is certain to pick up millions of views as golfers from every political background have always wanted to see more of Trump’s golf game and assess for themselves if it’s better/worse than people claim.

Bryson made it clear on X, formerly Twitter, that this collaboration with former president Donald Trump wasn’t about politics and that it was 100% about fundraising for the Wounded Warrior Project. Bryson wrote:

“To be clear, this is about golf and giving back to our nation’s veterans, not politics. A few weeks ago I reached out to both parties’ presidential campaigns and @realDonaldTrump was down for the challenge. It is an incredible honor to be able to enjoy a round of golf with any sitting or former president, and all have an open invitation to join me for a round of Break 50 anytime.”

For Bryson, it’s clear that YouTube has been an incredible growth outlet for him both personally and professionally and one that has helped him connect more with golfers at large.
