Buffalo Bills Catch Brutal Stray From Oilers Coach Ahead Of Stanley Cup Finals

The Oilers head into the Stanley Cup Final as slight underdogs against the Panthers for a few reasons, and the fact that Florida made it to the same stage last season before losing to the Knights certainly doesn’t hurt. However, Edmonton coach Kris Knoblauch tried to downplay the role experience plays while firing a shot at the Buffalo Bills in the process.

On Saturday, the Edmonton Oilers will play in the Stanely Cup Final for the first time since 2006 in the hopes of securing hockey’s ultimate prize for the first time since 1990. The Florida Panthers, on the other hand, will be angling to hoist the iconic trophy for the first time in franchise history after coming up short last season.

The Oilers were able to bounce back from the absolutely disastrous start that led to the team firing former head coach Jay Woodcroft after they dropped 10 of their first 13 games before staging a dramatic turnaround once Kris Knoblauch took over behind the bench.

It would be foolish to count out the Oilers when you consider they have a strong roster led by the best player in the NHL in the form of Connor McDavid.

However, most experts seem to think the Panthers have the edge thanks to their suffocating style of play as well as the fact that most of their players got a taste of the pressures that come with playing for the Stanely Cup last year (Corey Perry and Adam Henrique are the only guys on Edmonton’s roster who’ve previously played in a series for all the marbles).

On Tuesday, Knoblauch got the chance to address the experience aspect during a press conference where he invoked the Buffalo Bills, who infamously lost in the Super Bowl on four consecutive occasions between 1991 and 1994.

Here’s what he had to say:

“Experience is good. I don’t know how much experience is beneficial. You can ask the Buffalo Bills how important Super Bowl experience is.

I think the biggest thing is just having confidence to play, and our guys are playing their best. They should have a lot of confidence.”

I feel like I know which team Bills fans are rooting for now.
