We’re beginning to learn more about ‘Bussin with the Boys’ departure from Barstool Sports. Earlier this week, Will Compton and Taylor Lewan announced they were leaving Barstool after getting a massive offer elsewhere.
“We wanted to stay with Barstool,” Compton said. “Just like when we extended a couple of years ago, we wanted to stay with Barstool.”
According to Compton, Bussin will remain independent and retain creative control to do whatever they want.
“We are going independent,” Compton said. “We’ll be exclusive with sponsors, but not with a network … We can collab with whoever we want to, we have creative control, which is exactly what ‘Bussin’ with the Boys’ wanted to be from the beginning … It’s awesome.”
Ryan Glasspeigel of Front Office Sports reports that Bussin is leaving Barstool after receiving a “lavish” offer fron FanDuel.
The podcast’s hosts Will Compton and Taylor Lewan—both ex-NFL players—announced earlier this week they were leaving the platform to be an independent show with an unspecified sponsor.
Several sources told Front Office Sports that the big sponsor is FanDuel. A rep for the sportsbook declined to comment. By all accounts, the deal was quite lavish. The Bussin’ hosts own their IP and will have a seamless transition in which they will not have to restart their podcast or YouTube feeds from scratch
At the end of the day the Bussin guys got an offer too good for them to turn down.
