The Atlanta Falcons host the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday in a game that will be personal for rookie defensive lineman Byron Murphy II.

The first round NFL Draft pick wants to show his opponent what it missed out on by not selecting him in April!

Murphy left the college ranks highly decorated following a three-year career at Texas. As a junior, he was named a second-team All-American and the Big 12’s top player at his position. He racked up nine tackles for loss to go along with five sacks in that final campaign.

Now, he’s looking to prove it at the professional level.

The Seahawks quickly snatched the defender with their first draft pick as they looked to bolster the front four with size and talent. The 6-1, 300-pounder certainly fit the bill!

They’re now happy to have him in Seattle, though it almost didn’t happen. Atlanta was reportedly interested in snagging the lineman but ultimately opted to go the offensive route.

The Falcons surprised everyone with their choice of QB Michael Penix, a player who ended Murphy’s Texas career with a loss in the College Football Playoff.

Now, he’s out for revenge!

Byron Murphy plans to make it personal!

The decision’s worked out for Seattle thus far with Murphy having already recorded six tackles and a half-sack across three games. He’s been hampered by an injury, but he’s making it his duty to return for Atlanta.

As for Penix, he’s yet to take a meaningful snap as he sits behind starter Kirk Cousins. Murphy wants to make the Falcons regret their choice on Sunday.
