Caitlin Clark’s immense talent is simply not enough for the Indiana Fever to be a competent basketball team so far this season. They came into Monday night’s game against the high-powered Sun at 3-9.

And, things went incredibly poorly for the Fever, who were trying to build off of a win against the winless Washington Mystics in their last game on Friday. Instead, they took a huge step backwards.

The Fever were dominated by the Sun, 89-72, in a game that was not nearly as close as the final score says it was. They trailed by as many as 28 late in the 3rd quarter.

To add insult to injury, Caitlin Clark airballed a wide-open eight-footer in a clip that instantly went viral.

Oh, Caitlin. You’re better than that! I’m sure that’s the first time she’s done something like that in a very long time. That being said, anyone who regularly hoops knows that some of these short-range shots that are too far for a layup but not far enough away from a normal jumper can be easy to misjudge.

Overall, it was another so-so game for Caitlin Clark. She finished 3-8 from the field and 2-5 from three-point range for a total of 10 points. But, she had just 2 assists and 0 rebounds to go against 3 turnovers. And, in the plus-minus department, she was a dreadful -30 in just 22 minutes.

this comes just days after she told her coach, Christie Sides, that her snub from Team USA at the Paris Olympics next month “woke up a monster”.

Clark would’ve liked to build off the momentum of her best game in the WNBA yet, a 30-point outing in that Mystics win. Instead, she will have to wait until Thursday, as the Fever will return home to take on the Atlanta Dream.
