The Indiana Fever are 2-8 this season, a disappointing mark to say the least. But, that hasn’t stopped them from being the hottest ticket in the WNBA right now, and it’s pretty much all because of Caitlin Clark.

Clark is playing her second WNBA game in the Big Apple on Sunday, as the Fever are taking on the New York Liberty at the Barclays Center. Local fans are pretty excited to see the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer play, it appears.

Take a look at this line outside the Barclays Center well before the gates opening and tip-off time.

I’d bet there were no lines like that before Brooklyn Nets games this year. That’s the Caitlin Clark effect.

Sunday’s game comes just a day after the most controversial moment of the WNBA season so far, and it naturally involved Caitlin Clark.

Clark was the recipient of a cheap shot from Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter in Saturday’s 71-70 Fever win over the Sky.  The incident sparked outrage and conversation all around social media.

She’s had her ups and downs in her first ten WNBA games so far. Of course, her biggest “down” would be the team’s 2-8 record. Yes, the Fever were not good last year 13-27. But, many believed that pairing Caitlin Clark after her sensational career at Iowa with 2023 number-one overall pick and WNBA Rookie of the Year Aliyah Boston would help the Fever creep into contention. That hasn’t been the case so far, but I’m sure that won’t be the case in years to come.

She’s still been a really productive player, even if she’s been somewhat inefficient. Caitlin Clark is averaging 16.9 points, 6.5 assists, and 5.4 rebounds a game this season with shooting splits of 38/31/90. Turnovers have been high, but she’s been asked to do for an offense that has seen criticism lobbed at coach. Christie Sides for the way it is structured.

Despite all of that, fans simply cannot get enough of Caitlin Clark.
