We’re beginning to learn more about why Caitlin Clark had beef with a fan sitting courtside.

On Wednesday night, Clark had a heckling fan removed from the game by security during game 2 of the Sun-Fever playoff series.

Indiana Fever head coach Christy Sides revealed  that fans have been spewing “hurtful and hateful” comments at Clark and Fever players.

“It’s a lot of hurtful, hateful speech out there that’s happening, and it’s unacceptable,” Sides said. “They handled it and kept showing up and kept coming in our locker room and kept finding ways to get better.”

The WNBA issued a statement regarding the interaction between Clark and the fan.

“The WNBA is a competitive league with some of the most elite athletes in the world,” “While we welcome a growing fan base, the WNBA will not tolerate racist, derogatory, or threatening comments made about players, teams and anyone affiliated with the league. League security is actively monitoring threat-related activity and will work directly with teams and arenas to take appropriate measures, to include involving law enforcement, as necessary.”
