Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark renewed her habit of trolling teammate and friend Sophie Cunningham in her Instagram comments after the latter posted a series of typically thirst-trapy photos. Clark and Cunningham were teammates on the Indiana Fever last season.
Caitlin Clark trolling Sophie Cunningham in her IG comments certainly isn’t anything new, as the WNBA star previously went viral for a joke she made about one of Cunningham’s thirst traps. Cunningham has over 1.6 million followers on Instagram and Clark has over 3.6 million, making them two of the most popular players in the WNBA.

This latest troll job came on Cunningham’s post recapping her month of February, prompting Clark to sarcastically ask if she plays basketball.

“Do you want me to send you my highlight reel?” Cunningham replied.
Unfortunately for the Indiana Fever and WNBA fans, both Clark and Sophie Cunningham ended the 2025 season sidelined by injuries — Clark missed significant time last year due to recurring soft tissue injuries, while Cunningham tore her MCL in August. Cunningham had a one-year contract with the Fever last season, meaning she enters this year as a free agent.
At this time, there’s also no guarantee that the 2026 WNBA season even begins on time as the league and the players’ union are currently in negotiations for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Last season, her second season in the WNBA, Clark played in just 13 games and averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5 rebounds per game. After spending the first 6 season of her career with the Phoenix Mercury, Cunningham appeared in 30 games for the Fever (13 starts) last season and averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
At this time, the 2026 WNBA season is set to tip-off on Friday, May 8. Clark and the Fever are scheduled to make their season debut at home on Saturday, May 9 against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings.
