5-Star Wide Receiver Is Honeypotting Six Different SEC Programs During Chaotic Recruitment

Caleb Cunningham can play college football at any school in the country. The five-star wide receiver is one of the top players at his position in the recruiting Class of 2025 and a top-25 prospect overall.

However, he cannot make up his mind…

Cunningham has said the exact same thing, more or less, about four different schools— if not six. His indecision and honeypotting has created one of the most chaotic recruitments in college football history.

Honeypotting, for those who don’t know, is a term often used to describe an enticing person or thing that acts as a lure or decoy in a trap, scam, or scheme. That isn’t to say that Cunningham is running a scam. Rather, it is to say that he is leading on more than one school. Because he is. And more than likely, in the NIL era, there is money involved. All four/six programs are involved in a bidding war on some level.

To be fair to Cunningham, he is leveraging his worth in a period of time where he is worth more than ever. There is nothing to say he must commit now or that he can’t say the same thing about/to more than one program. His process is his process and only his process.

That doesn’t mean it isn’t also a little bit ridiculous. Both of those things can be true!

Cunningham made a bold statement about Auburn on January 2.

I told them yesterday they stand No. 1.

Cunningham, a Mississippi-native, spoke highly of Mississippi State on January 14.

They spoke to me and showed love like they want me there bad. I was really close to committing.

And then Cunningham hopped over to Florida on the first weekend of February.

I already knew they were a great program but after that visit I knew I did the right thing putting them on the list.

Ole Miss got Cunningham on campus in March. The Rebels are still in the mix but want to avoid another Leo Lewis situation.

Tennessee is also in pursuit of Cunningham and made him feel wanted.

They were telling me I’m one of their main priorities and I definitely felt that way. They want me.

He took a trip to Knoxville at the beginning of June and said he “loves” the Vols.

It took only one week for the entire landscape of his recruitment to change. Cunningham has a new No. 1 after a visit to Tuscaloosa over the weekend!

Caleb Cunningham’s recruitment is wide open, clearly! There are six schools with a legitimate chance of landing the five-star pass-catcher and nobody really knows where they stand.
