Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud, 22 years old, is about six weeks older than Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams. Stroud, however, has been in the NFL a year longer than Williams, making him the “veteran” of the two.

Following the Texans Sunday Night Football win over the Chicago Bears, CJ Stroud made sure to make that distinction clear as he attempted to “son” Caleb Williams with advice during the postgame pleasantries.

NFL cameras caught the moment, revealing an incredibly annoyed reaction from Williams, who seemed like he couldn’t wait to get away from Stroud.

“Good job out there bro. Keep going,” Stroud told Williams. “Hey, stop taking those hits. Learn from those mistakes and everything that you got, bro, is in you already, bro. You going to be a hell of a player in this league.”

In the Bears’ 19-13 loss to the Houston Texans, Williams completed 23 of 37 passes for 174 yards and two interceptions, while also taking seven sacks.

Through the first two games of his rookie season in the NFL, the defending Heisman Trophy winner and #1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft is completing 56% of his passes for 267 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions. It certainly hasn’t been an ideal start for the Bears’ offense, especially when considering that a clip of new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron literally shaking while calling a play has some Chicago fans panicking.

Williams will be looking to put together his best performance as an NFL QB this weekend when the Bears travel to Indianapolis to take on Anthony Richardson and the 0-2 Colts.

As for Stroud, he’s gotten off to a blistering start to his sophomore NFL season as he’s completed 69% of his passes for 494 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions in his first two games of the season, which were both wins.
