Caleb Williams Wants Comparisons To Patrick Mahomes To Stop After Just Two Preseason Games

Caleb Williams has had huge expectations placed on him since his high school years in the Washington D.C, area. He’s always lived up to them, winning a Heisman Trophy at USC after transferring from Oklahoma and then being selected by the Chicago Bears with the first-overall pick in April’s draft.

It’s hard to get a ton of solid information from preseason football, but Caleb Williams has impressed everyone so far. So much so, that the Patrick Mahomes comparisons people made in the predraft process are only intensifying.

After a good preseason debut last weekend, Williams was back at it again on Saturday, making plays like this in another impressive outing.

You can certainly see the resemblance to Patrick Mahomes there, especially the Patrick Mahomes that was much more willing to run around like that. Given that Williams’ arm is probably more special than his legs, he could quickly be in that upper-echelon of league quarterbacks that Mahomes sits atop.

“It’s cool. It’s great. I  always say it’s respect. But we weren’t our best today. We started out slow. We can’t do that in the National Football League. You can’t come out here and start slow, myself included. We’re going to get a lot better. We’re going to keep growing. We’re going to have a lot of fun doing it, winning these games, going out there versus these other teams, playing as one.
