After announcing her retirement from competition, Australian breaking star “Raygun” Rachael Gunn managed to shock people one more time this past weekend.
Saturday night, during a Tones And I (Toni Watson) concert at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, the fans were treated to a special appearance by the Olympic breakdancing legend.
As Tones And I was about to perform “Dance With Me,” the latest single from her 2024 album, Beautifully Ordinary, she shouted to the crowd, “Please give it up for an Australian icon, the most iconic break dancer there is, Raygun!”
Never one to disappoint, Raygun broke out many of the same moves that made her famous from the 2024 Paris Olympics, including her kangaroo hop.
“Raygun the most beautiful kindest full of life human I have met,” the singer wrote on Instagram alongside a video of Raygun’s appearance. “It was an honour to celebrate you last night. Thank you for sharing the stage with me and bringing smiles to so many faces. You always have a friend in me.”
Over on TikTok, Tones And I wrote, “Raygun. A genuinely kind, beautiful person. Thank you for putting smiles in everyones [sic] faces. You will always ahve [sic] a mate in me.”
@tonesandi Raygun. A genuinely kind, beautiful person. Thank you for putting smiles in everyones faces ❤️ You will always ahve a mate in me.
Sadly, Raygun announced last week that she was retiring from active breaking competition.
“I’m not going to compete anymore, no. I was going to keep competing, for sure, but that seems really difficult for me to do now to approach a battle,” Gunn said.
Too bad.
When you have such an impact on the world that three months later Minnesota Vikings safety Camryn Bynum emulates your moves after a critical interception, you know you have had an impact on society.

“I’m a big fan. She went out there and had fun and that’s what I do on the field,” Bynum said after the game on Sunday. “I’ve been saving for that and it’s been a while since I did a celly.”
Bynum added, “I can clown like she did. It didn’t take too much effort.”
