Cam Newton is not happy the Indianapolis Colts brought in 44-year-old Philip Rivers.

Over the weekend, it was revealed that Colts QB Daniel Jones had suffered a season-ending Achilles injury.

Rivers, who played with the Colts in 2020, was called and asked if he could serve as an emergency quarterback.

“A game I love to play. A game I thought I was done playing, certainly,” Rivers said. “I wasn’t really hanging on any hope of playing again. I kind of thought that ship had sailed, but something about it excited me. Kind of one of those deals, a door opens and you either walk through it and find out if you can do it or run from it.”

Newton, who says that he’s not officially retired from the NFL, lashed out on social media, and blasted the Colts for not considering signing him.

“It’s almost like a slap in my face,” Newton said. “Did Philip Rivers send any type of signs that he was available? Why are you asking me to do something that everybody else didn’t do?”

Newton goes on to admit tha he believes that the Colts probably did not want him as a distraction.

“I know it’s the personality, bro. Folks don’t want a Shedeur [Sanders] situation. They don’t want a circus.”

Fans blasted Newton over his comments.
