Cam Skattebo’s storybook rookie season came to an abrupt and brutal halt on Sunday in Philadelphia, as the bruising rookie New York Giants running back suffered a season-ending broken ankle.
During the second quarter of the Giants’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, October 26, Cam Skattebo went down with a broken ankle after attempting to make a catch. His broken ankle was turned sideways in the injury, meaning the running back had to be immediately placed in a boot and taken to the hospital for surgery.
As Skattebo was being carted off the field, the famously venomous Philly faithful — who infamous boo everyone and threw batteries at Santa Claus — stood and gave him a standing ovation.

The love from Philly didn’t then there, though, as reports indicate that the organization’s “fixer” Big Dom stopped by the hospital to deliver pizza and cheesesteaks to Skattebo and his family.
Big Dom is a legend for this.

After his surgery, Skattebo took to social media to provide an update and thank the city of Philly for their support.
“Thank you everyone for the support!! Surgery went well. I just want to thank the city of Philly for taking the best care of me. Every moment I spent in the hospital with family and friends I felt loved and supported in every way,” the 2024 Heisman Trophy finalist tweeted.
“Thank you to the doctors, surgeons, and staff that did their best work on me.
This is just the beginning of my journey and I can’t wait to show you guys all about it!!!
GOD has a plan for me, stick the course and it will all work itself out , BRB 🫡“
While the Giants have seemingly found a franchise quarterback in Jaxson Dart, the loss to the Eagles and the injury to Skattebo likely puts the kibosh on whatever hopes Big Blue had of turning their season around enough to make a run at the playoffs.
