Cameron Brink has got Caitlin Clark’s back when it comes to the Fever star skipping out on participating in the NBA 3-point contest. “Good for her,” Brink said on her podcast.

While Sabrina Ionescu and Steph Curry put on a very entertaining show during the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend with their long range accuracy, many wished Caitlin Clark would also have been there. After all, basketball fans haven’t seen anyone with as much range as Clark since Curry entered the scene.

Clark, of course, was coming off a grueling stretch of games, having made it to the NCAA Finals then having to turn right around and join the Indiana Fever. So she was more than happy to have a few days off.

Which is one of the big reasons why Caitlin Clark won’t be participating in this year’s NBA 3-point contest as well (or why she chose to pass on joining Unrivaled). But it’s not the only reason. As was reported last week, Clark is also not interested in joining the festivities because of the format of the NBA 3-point contest. It might mess with her killer practice regimen.

“My good friend Caitlin Clark denied an NBA All-Star invite. Which I’m like, good for her. Last year, Sabrina and Steph had a little shootout and it was very close,” Cameron Brink said on her Straight to Cam podcast. “And there was a lot of debate around that, I remember. Sabrina is one of the best Shooters I’ve ever been around so I was I was not shocked when it was so close.”

Brink’s co-host Sydel Curry-Lee then said it would have been good for the WNBA if Clark were to participate in the 3-point contest this year, but…

“She needs a break. I’m like texting her, I’m like, ‘You need to take a vacation for three months.’ She’s definitely, like, always in the gym. Always working her butt off, but I’m like ‘You don’t need to have the stress of that again because it’s just going to be a whole debacle.’

“She’s probably focusing on gearing up for the season. Like, this does not benefit her. She doesn’t need more publicity,” Brink continued. “I was actually, this is really funny, I was at the Paris Games and we went out with the Pacers after one of their games. And we were having this debate, who’s hotter right now, Caitlin or some other NBA players. And then I remember Tyrese Haliburton jumping in, ‘When I’m with Caitlin, people give me the phone to take a picture of Caitlin and them. They’re like, Tyrese who?’”
