Anthony Edwards got the chance to expose some critics for their Cold Takes in a commercial Adidas dropped after the Timberwolves were sent home for the season, and Cam’ron decided to fire back with the diss track he whipped up after getting called out in the spot.
The Timberwolves may have come up short against the Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals, but Minnesota still has to feel pretty optimistic about their prospects going forward thanks in no small part to the play of Anthony Edwards, who emerged as the undisputed star of a postseason where he averaged 27.8 points, 6 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game.
The future looks very bright for the 22-year-old guard who garnered comparisons to Michael Jordan due to his stellar performance in the playoffs, and you have to imagine the folks at Adidas are pretty happy they secured him to a contract in 2020 before releasing the first iteration of his signature shoe (the AE 1) prior to the start of the 2023-24 campaign.
The apparel company didn’t waste any time drumming up some hype for the man it’s obviously hoping will become the face of its basketball brand by releasing an ad where it used a literal receipt machine to highlight some criticisms he’d previously received from notable names including Camelo Anthony and Cam’ron.
This is only the beginning.

Cam’ron had previously suggested Edwards had some work to do before he earned the right to be considered one of the best players in the NBA, saying, “To me, he’s an All-Star, but not a superstar yet,” to which the Minnesota superstar responded “F— buddy.”
It would appear the rapper took exception to that barb, as the intro to the newest episode of It Is What It Is (the show he co-hosts with Mase) featured him jumping on the beat to Black Rob’s “Whoa!” for a freestyle where he eventually took aim at Edwards and Adidas while rocking a Luka Doncic jersey (the bars in question kick off around the 2:20 mark).
Killa mocked Edwards for getting eliminated by the Mavericks while giving props to Doncic and Kyrie Irving but saved the bulk of his ire for Adidas.
He suggested the company was responsible for the injuries that derailed the careers of players including Tracy McGrady, Derrick Rose, Robert Griffin III, and John Wall before capping things off by saying “You know Kevin Ware? Google what was on his toes” (the Louisville guard was wearing Adidas shoes when he suffered a gruesome leg injury against Duke in the Elite Eight in 2013).
I can’t say I saw this feud coming, but I’m here for it.
