Cam’Ron Fletcher has not played in a college basketball game for High Point since the final day of 2025. The sixth-year senior was not kicked off of the team.
So where is he?
Nobody seems to know the answer to this question. His unexplained absence is one of the biggest mysteries the biggest mystery in college basketball.
Who is Cam’Ron Fletcher?
Fletcher was rated as a four-star prospect in the recruiting Class of 2020. The St. Louis, Missouri-native committed to Kentucky out of high school over Michigan State, Alabama, Arkansas and Illinois, among others.
He was expected to be a legitimate star for the Wildcats at the small forward position but played in only nine games as a freshman. John Calipari asked Fletcher to step away from the team in December after an emotional outburst over a lack of playing time. They later agreed to part ways at the end of the season.
Fletcher ultimately transferred to Florida State, which also did not go according to plan.
The 6-foot-7, 220-pound sophomore played in only 46 games over three seasons with the Seminoles and missed a lot of time with a torn ACL. He averaged less than 10 points and five rebounds per game in those three years while dating Angel Reese.
Fletcher later joined his teammates in a lawsuit against head coach Leonard Hamilton, claiming he failed to pay out the NIL money that was promised to them. That was after he already transferred to Xavier.
The fifth-year winger played in 11 games for the Musketeers during the 2024-2025 season. He played less than five minutes per game. Not ideal.
Did he get kicked off the college basketball team at High Point?
Cam’Ron Fletcher received a medical redshirt for his torn ACL that allowed him to return for a sixth and final season of college basketball in 2025-26. The 23-year-old re-entered the transfer portal during the offseason and committed to High Point.
The Panthers went 29-6 to win the Big South Conference and make the NCAA Tournament last season. They were excited to get a guy like Fletcher in the system with hopes of a return to March Madness.
It immediately proved to be a great addition.
Fletcher averaged 16.5 points and 7.8 rebounds in 25.9 minutes per game during the first 15 games of the 2025-26 season. High Point went 13-3 during that stretch with a two-point loss to Southern Illinois, an overtime loss to App State and a blowout loss to UAB. The Panthers looked to be legit.
And then Fletcher disappeared.
He last played on Dec. 31. High Point has played its last four games without him. It has not listed him as out with an injury. It has not explained his absence as a suspension.
Nobody outside of the program knows what is going on.
Rico Bosco reported on Thursday morning that “it appears Cam’Ron Fletcher has been dismissed from High Point hoops.” The Big South Hoops Hub later checked with the program to confirm.
According to the Panthers, any reports of a dismissal are not true.
This adds even more confusion to an extremely confusing situation. Fletcher was the leading scorer at High Point in 2025. He has not played in 2026. Nobody knows why.
