The Arizona Cardinals have backed down after they a bizarre “independent study” clause in Kyler Murray’s new contract.
Earlier this week, NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Cardinals inserted a clause in Murray’s contract in which the QB agreed to study for four hours a week while away from the team’s facilities.
Contracts are about give-and-take. One example from #AZCardinals QB Kyler Murray’s $230.5M contract: There is an addendum that requires 4 hours of “independent study” per game week. It was important to the team making a commitment at that level, thus it was important to Murray. pic.twitter.com/VqrkvoBQLJ

On Thursday, a pissed-off Murray held a surprise press conference because he felt people were being “disrespectful” about his study habits.

It’s “disrespectful … almost a joke” that people could think he could’ve accomplished what he has without studying and preparing for the game.
“This game is too hard” to do otherwise.
