While the first two picks in the draft seem almost certain, with Alabama’s Bryce Young and Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud expected to go first and second to the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans, respectively, the rest of the draft remains shrouded in mystery. This has led some quarterback-needy teams to consider trading up to the third spot in order to secure the next best prospect.
While it’s widely believed that the top quarterbacks in this draft class are Young and Stroud, the next best option are still up for debate. Some of the names being thrown around as possibilities include Florida’s Anthony Richardson, Kentucky’s Will Levis, and Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker. And with the Indianapolis Colts holding the fourth overall pick, they could potentially trade up to the third spot in order to secure their preferred choice.
Other teams, such as the Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans and the Las Vegas Raiders, are also rumored to be interested in trading up to the third spot. With so much uncertainty surrounding the draft, it’s no surprise that teams are exploring all possible avenues to secure the players they need.
As for the Cardinals, they have a big decision to make. They could choose to hold onto the third pick and select the player they believe will best fit their needs, such as Alabama’s Will Anderson, or they could trade the pick and potentially acquire more draft capital in the process. It’s a high-stakes decision, and one that could have far-reaching consequences for the team’s future success.
One thing is for certain: the 2023 NFL Draft is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in recent memory. With so many talented players and so much uncertainty, fans can expect plenty of surprises and drama come draft day.
