Carson Beck played one of the best games of his college football career during a dominant win over Virginia Tech on Saturday. The 24-year-old Miami quarterback shows great body language when everything is going his way.
His behavior in victory presents a stark contrast to how he acts during hardship.
How you show up in the face of adversity says a lot about you. Especially as one of the highest-paid players in college football.
Miami beat Virginia Tech to keep its ACC Championship and College Football Playoff hopes alive.
Miami is currently ranked as the No. 13 team in the country. The Hurricanes are in position to make the 12-team playoff— maybe even as the lone representative of the ACC. We’ll see. They cannot lose.
This crucial three-game stretch started with the Hokies on Saturday and everything seemed to click on offense against a bad Virginia Tech defense.
Carson Beck completed 27 of his 32 pass attempts for 320 yards and four touchdowns. He even finished with positive rushing yards, which means he was able to avoid needless sacks. Nine different players caught a pass. Malachi Toney went for 146 yards and a touchdown on 12 catches.
The Hurricanes won by a final score of 34-17.
There are a few different scenarios that could play out in the ACC but Miami is currently on the outside of the championship game looking in. That might knock them out of the Playoff all together. We’ll see.
If it can beat Pittsburgh at Pittsburgh next weekend, it needs two of SMU, Virginia and Georgia Tech to lose at least one game each to make the ACC Championship. If Georgia Tech loses to Pittsburgh, Miami needs either SMU to lose or Virginia Tech to beat Virginia. If Georgia Tech beats Pittsburgh, Miami needs Virginia and SMU both to lose. Duke is also hanging around with two conference losses.
However, as things currently stand, Miami is just one spot away from the 12-team playoff at No. 13. Hope remains for a national championship.
Carson Beck was all smiles.
Things are good when you’re winning. People are happy. Vibes are high.
Beck even waved goodbye to the crowd in Blacksburg after a touchdown late in the fourth quarter sealed the win. The sixth-year senior was feeling himself!
What a play from Carson Beck and Malachi Toney!

The way Carson Beck acted on a good day during a dominant victory presents a stark contrast to how he acts when things are not going his way. He refused to step up as a leader by showing horrible body language during a frustrating performance against Syracuse earlier this month. His head hung low while he pointed fingers at everybody but himself. There was no accountability.
When Beck plays well, he wants all of the credit. When Beck plays poorly, it’s not his fault.
