One week after Carson Beck threw his coaching staff directly under the bus, the 22-year-old Miami quarterback showed horrible body language on the sideline during yet another lackluster performance on Saturday. The Hurricanes scored only 14 points in the first half against Syracuse with six coming on a interception and the other six on a trick play.

They desperately needed a spark.

Rather than stepping up as a leader, Beck made his frustration very clear. That is not what you want from a guy getting paid $3+ million to play his sixth season of college football.

Miami could not get anything going on offense.

The Hurricanes had the ball on offense for more than 15 minutes during the first half. They totaled 165 yards— 137 through the air, just 28 on the ground.

Beck completed 10 of 15 pass attempts for an average of 8.2 yards per catch, which isn’t horrible, but Miami converted only one of five attempts on third down and often stalled near midfield. Not ideal.

To be fair, his team did not do him any favors. The offensive line did not give Beck a lot of time to throw and nobody was open down field.

JoJo Trader gave up on a route over the middle.

He and his quarterback also had a clear miscommunication on third down.

Miami took a 14-0 lead over Syracuse into the locker room at halftime because of a pick-six. Carson Beck also caught a touchdown on a trick play to avoid yet another failed drive in the red zone.

It was the best possible outcome from a stagnant first half.

Carson Beck was visibly frustrated.

Instead of trying to get his guys back on track, Beck wore his emotions on his sleeve. He hung his head as he came off of the sideline after a turnover on downs. Even the ACC announcers called him out!

It was an opportunity for Carson Beck to step up as a leader but all he did was pout.

This seems to be a pretty consistent theme. One of the biggest knocks on Beck is his how he acts when things aren’t going his way. He never takes accountability. He always looks to blame others, like last week when he threw the Miami coaching staff directly under the bus. A bad attitude is not what you want from your quarterback, who is making millions of dollars in his sixth year of college football.
