CeeDee Lamb is a player that the Dallas Cowboys can ill-afford to lose. The wide receiver has developed into a bona fide superstar and is their sole elite weapon.

But, CeeDee Lamb wants a new contract, something that is threatening his availability and future in Dallas.  A Twitter insider proclaims that he could demand a trade if he doesn’t get the contract he wants.

Lamb enters the 2024 season in the final deal of his rookie contract he signed after being the 17th-overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He’s improved every season in the NFL, and had arguably the best season for a Dallas Cowboys receiver ever last year. He hauled in 135 catches for 1,749 yards and caught 12 touchdown passes.

Considering that he will play the entire upcoming season at 25-years old, that is a player that is going to get a huge contract from somebody. CeeDee Lamb would prefer that it come from the Dallas Cowboys in the form of a massive extension before this season, but that may not happen.

It was widely reported on Monday that CeeDee Lamb would skip training camp without a new deal up to his standards, one that would make him among the highest-paid players at the position.  While he may not get the 4-year, $140 million with $110 million guaranteed that Minnesota Vikings star and fellow 2020 NFL Draft class member  Justin Jefferson got, that is a pretty solid barometer of the type of deal that he could get.

It was widely reported on Monday that CeeDee Lamb will hold out if he doesn’t have a new deal by training camp. But, the Twitter account, @prettyRickey213, which boasts over 25k followers and often beats NFL beat writers to scoops, reports that Lamb could demand a trade if not given a new contract.

“CeeDee Lamb will request to be traded if the #Cowboys do not offer him a new contract worth at least $32 million per year. He wants to be at least the second highest paid WR in the NFL,” he said.

You can put as much or as little stock into this account as you want, but he does definitely get good scoops sometimes, and it should be considered a possibility that this is how CeeDee Lamb and his camp are thinking.

Training camp for the Dallas Cowboys kicks off July 25.
