Chad Baker-Mazara is quickly becoming one of the biggest villains in college basketball if he is not already of that status. The Auburn guard continues to be flamboyant on the court and often gets himself in trouble, which could prove costly come March Madness like it did last season.

His most recent incident took place during and after a dominant blowout win over Oklahoma on Tuesday.

Baker-Mazara, a 25-year-old fifth-year senior, joined the Tigers in 2023 after stops at Duquesne, San Diego State and Northwest Florida State Junior College. He is currently averaging 13 points on 48.4% shooting, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 25 minutes per college basketball game for Bruce Pearl.

Auburn is on a tear. Not only are the Tigers winning, they are doing so in dominant fashion without any kind of subtly. The No. 1 team in the country moved to 21-1 with a 28-point victory over the Sooners. Chad Baker-Mazara finished with 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting even though he fouled out with almost 10 minutes left in the second half.

Chad Baker-Mazara is fiesty!

As soon as he was relegated to the bench, the 6-foot-7 guard had some words for the officials. Baker-Mazara did not appreciate the foul call and made sure his opinion was heard.

To be fair, it did not appear to be an overly hostile exchange. Chad Baker-Mazara was smiling. The referee stood nearby and never reacted. Still, this kind of behavior could prove costly if the wrong official takes offense to the commentary.

Baker-Mazara also made a little bit of a scene after the final buzzer and told his opponent to get out of the gym while flexing the Auburn logo on the front of his jersey. Bruce Pearl kept him in check.

Auburn basketball does not have many flaws. Chad Baker-Mazara’s shenanigans might be one. He was ejected for a blatantly dirty elbow in an upset loss to Yale in the NCAA Tournament last season. It would be a shame if similar behavior proved costly again in 2025. The Tigers are so good.
