Professional golfer Charley Hull is a star on the LPGA Tour. The 10-year veteran is gearing up for the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Porthcawl Golf Course in Wales.

She opened up on some recent struggles being dealt with in what’s been a trying 2025 season. Personal setbacks include sickness and a back injury that have negatively impacted her play.

Hull joined the LPGA Tour in 2015. She’s racked up more than $9.5 million in career earnings to this point.

Her stat line shows two wins and 39 Top 10s across the last decade. Unfortunately, success has been hard to come by of late.

Charley Hull opened up on the struggles ahead of the AIG Women’s Open.

She admitted that her preparations for the event haven’t been ideal. Hull cited a few minor health issues while addressing the media at Royal Porthcawl, which contributed to her twice collapsing at the Evian Championship in early July.

“On Sunday, I pretty much felt back to normal. It took like two, three weeks,” she said. “It’s been quite frustrating because I’ve not been able to get out into the gym…

“I did run yesterday actually, but the week before I was sick, I hurt my back lifting a box out of my car, and then my back’s been really playing up and I’ve not been hitting it as well…

“My back is pretty sore, and my physio said I need to be walking and moving around. I used to do quite a lot of exercising. I think in three weeks, I’ve lost four kgs (8-10 lbs), which is quite a lot of weight.

“I’m not hitting the best coming into this week, which is very frustrating because it’s an event I’ve been looking forward to playing all year… I feel like I’ve lost a bit of distance… My swing speed is down probably about eight miles an hour.”

The issues have been evident in terms of production. While Hull has made nine of 11 cuts this year, she’s recorded just one Top 10 and was forced to withdraw from the Evian Championship earlier this month.

She can still outdrive Collin Morikawa!

The two competed alongside Tommy Fleetwood and members of the Fore Play crew earlier this year. Video from that event was posted to TaylorMade’s YouTube account last week.

At one point, Charley Hull is seen outdriving the two-time major winner, who’s averaging 295.9 yards from the tee this season. She let him hear about it after the fact.

“Is that your drive, Collin?” she asked while watching him approach his golf ball. “Hey there, little boy!”

The health issues didn’t hold her back in the 2v2v2 challenge! Hopefully, it’s a sign that she’s returning to 100%.

It’s been an eventful year for Hull, who was also featured in the recently released Happy Gilmore 2 movie. She’s now putting the focus back on golf in hopes of landing her first major victory.
