LPGA star Charley Hull went viral at the US Open this week after being spotted smoking cigarettes on the course while signing autographs for fans in attendance. She’s since responded to the social media fame, providing followers her hilarious reason for indulging in the habit.
The golfer made those headlines prior to the tournament’s start on Thursday as she happily greeted patrons with a heater in hand.
Clips of Hull casually ripping darts while signing memorabilia quickly made their ways to social media, landing references to John Daly in the process.
That habit followed Hull onto the course this weekend as she was photographed smoking a number of times throughout her rounds.

She provided reasoning behind her indulgence in hilarious fashion.

While Charley Hull instantly won everyone over with her non-golf-related habit, she’s struggled a bit with her play.
Attempting to land her first ever major victory, Hull entered with hopes of besting last year’s second-place finish at the US Open event at Pebble Beach. Unfortunately, she’s fallen out of contention.
Though she did post a respectable -3 in her final round to slip just inside the Top 20 (at the time of this writing), a +6 total for the weekend will cause her to miss out on a US Open win.
