Chennedy Carter did not sign a contract to play in the WNBA during the 2025 season. She was blackballed by the entire league after she bullied Caitlin Clark with a dirty cheap shot.
The 26-year-old seems to be doing just fine!
Carter actually led the Chicago Sky in points per game during the 2024 WNBA season. Even though her ability to put the ball in the hoop might’ve been valuable for a team that needs a scorer, her attitude proved to be the deterring factor to a potential signing. She infamously clobbered the Rookie of the Year with a nasty cheap shot in the early season and later doubled down by calling out her boyfriend. She also stayed dirty in August when she committed an ugly flagrant foul on her former teammate.
WNBA teams would obviously prefer to avoid the potential headache and kept her out of the league. All 13 teams chose to pass during free agency. Chennedy Carter was instead forced to sign a deal with Adelitas de Chihuahua of the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional, the top women’s basketball league in Mexico. The W didn’t want her.
Adelitas has played six games thus far. Carter averages 16.7 points on 46,8% shooting, 4.8 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game as one of the best players in the league.
Although I am not familiar with the popularity of the LNBP, a solid crowd gathered at Adelitas’ game over the weekend. And by “solid crowd,” I mean they filled what is essentially a high school gym. Their newest American player is one of the biggest draws. She is a star in Mexico just like she was in China.
A small group of fans gathered by the team exit after the game. Three women in particular were excited to see Chennedy Carter emerge from the tunnel. She went over to greet them.
All three women asked for an autograph. One of the the three women asked the former Sky point guard to sign her chest.
Carter was thrilled. The smile on her face spread from ear to ear because of the request. Not only did she sign the woman’s chest, she snuck a kiss!

I am fascinated by this interaction. Is Chennedy Carter a star in Mexico because she previously played in the WNBA? Do the fans in Mexico know her as Caitlin Clark’s bully like most fans in the United States? Are they so excited to see her because it’s her or because she is an American? Is it legal for Carter to place her lips on a woman’s chest without permission from the woman? It did not appear to be a big deal!
