Chibuzo Agbo committed to play college basketball for Eric Musselman at USC in April. The fifth-year graduate student will exhaust his final season of eligibility in Los Angeles and is expected to play a big role for the Trojans.

He is wicked fast for his frame!

Agbo, a guard, played two years at Texas Tech and two years at Boise State. His three-point shooting is a perfect fit for Musselman’s high-volume system. As is his speed.

The California-native is 6-foot-7, 225/230 pounds. That obviously is not small and guards of his size often struggle to run the floor. They usually serve more in a slashing role. Not Agbo!

Chibuzo Agbo is surprisingly quick. His endurance is legit. We found out over the weekend when USC held its first mile test of the offseason.

The concept is as simple as it sounds: run four laps of the quarter-mile track as quickly as possible.

Agbo ran a mile in five minutes and 18 seconds… at 6’7, 225!!!

To try and put Agbo’s feat in perspective, let’s compare him to the best 1500-meter runner in the United States. A 1500-meter race is just short of a mile. Cole Hocker won the Olympic Trials last week with a blazing fast time of 3:30.59— which converts to approximately 3:48 for the mile.

Hocker is 5-foot-10, approximately 160 pounds. Maybe even less.

Agbo ran about 90 seconds slower than Hocker at about nine inches taller and 55 pounds heavier. And he is not a professional runner. This was just a college basketball workout. There wasn’t any prior training involved when it comes to form or psyche or anything. Hocker does this full-time.

Needless to say, Chibuzo Agbo is a freak athlete. Musselman is going to love his motor and will rely on his speed!
